Application Developer at VMC

"Great man with a wealth of knowledge he shares with everyone around him without thinking twice. I had the pleasure of working with Ken for a brief time at SimplyFun LLC in Bellevue. Myself and everyone there were sad to see him go, but there were much bigger, and certainly more professional mountains for him to climb."

SimplyFun Corporate Redesign

One day our president came in and thought outloud that it would be great if we can receive a technology award with our website for the DSA conference. When hearing this, the first idea that came to mind was to implement the Bootstrap framework into the current system in order to make the website more appealing to the mobile and tablet device users. I designed the following comps, while making note of the restrictions with Prowess CMS, created by Thatcher Technologies.

Improving the Deployment Process

One night, while preparing to manually deploy web contents for a new board game release to production at midnight via a CMS, I had an epiphany. The thought was to store all web contents to another server, and manage the content through a version control software (GITHUB). After preparing this, then we can create a GRUNTJS command that will automate an “update” brand command to happen on the "Content Server". The idea was approved, with an exception that we make changes gradually in the future.

Creation of a UI for Online Ordering

Customers can sign up to become a Play Saver, which is similar to an Amazon Prime account where users are able to receive special discounts. Before the enhancement of their dashboard, they were confronted with a confusing UI that mostly pertained to consultants. I proposed that we change up the content on the dashboard page by categorizing required contents into four categories, “Special Pricing”, “Quick Shop”, and “Refer a Friend”. As a result, this boosted sales up by 1.5 times. *Completed in a two week time span.

Design and Develop New Pages

The “Press”, “What’s New”, “Importance of Play”, “SimplyFun Family”, and the “Careers” page are some of the pages I innovated while at SimplyFun. For all of these projects, I gathered the requirments, wireframed (If requested), designed using PhotoShop, then developed in my favorite text editor Sublime Text. I have created a page in less than a day when it was necessary. The example image is a screenshot of the new Press page.
